Over the past few months, many of our sponsored children in Rwanda told us of much devastation during the recent monsoon/rainy season. Some told of children drowning in overflowing rivers - while other talked about the lack of shelter.
These reports of devastation have inspired us to begin a new MONSOON & CRISIS RELIEF FUND. With this fund we will work more diligently to keep children safer during the next monsoon season. Sending a child to school is great - but we need to make sure they can stay dry & safe at night. We can build a 4-room house for only $3000. We need to build more of these safe structures as well as explore options for other size structures. We will also be sure that rain jackets, boots, & umbrellas are available for children as they walk to school. We have too many of our children who live in mud-huts that wash away during heavy rains. Some children even live in lean-tos that are covered with mosquito netting & leaves from banana trees. The next rainy season is October-November so we have much work to do . . . and our Monsoon & Crisis Relief Fund will get us started. CLICK HERE TO DONATE NOW.
