We know that most people would love to be able to help orphans in Rwanda, but sometimes our personal budgets don’t allow us to help in the way we would prefer. There are often times too many things we are ALREADY DOING and therefore can’t help.

At River’s Promise, our true joy is to bring hope to orphans! Whether we do this through giving a hug, sending an orphan to school, or buying them a bed to sleep in, our goal is to promote hope in the life of an orphan every chance we can. Giving hope, though, is not a one person job. It is for that very reason why we have Partners of Hope.

A Partner of Hope with River’s Promise is someone who gives hope to an orphan in our program through a simple donation. You can become a Partner of Hope right now for as little as $1.93 per week. That’s it! That’s all it takes to send an orphan to school for one week and to be a Partner of Hope for an orphaned child!

GENOCIDE SURVIVOR ORPHANS

For the last year, we at River’s Promise have been working with a group of orphans that are survivors of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. For those of you that don’t know, during the 100 day genocide, over 1,000,000 people were killed. This means that for each day of the Genocide, roughly 10,000 men, women, and children were ruthlessly murdered.

We have had the opportunity to partner with a group of children who survived the 1994 Genocide. For many of them, they are the only living survivors in their families. No fathers. No mothers. No aunts or uncles. No brothers or sisters. Their stories of loss are truly some of the most heart wrenching stories we have ever heard.

We are proud to say that these Genocide Survivor Orphans are now available for monthly sponsorship in our program! For only $35 per month you will bring the Hope of an education, health care, and other basic amenities to an orphan in Rwanda!

Your sponsorship will also provide much needed grief counseling to address the emotional needs of these children!

The story of River’s Promise is told in the new book by Christian Recording Artist, tobymac. City On Our Knees tells the stories of people who have stepped forward in action to make impact.

City On Our Knees dedicates an entire chapter to tell the story of Jimmy & Carrie Lakey’s adoption of their son (River), and how that journey led to the founding of River’s Promise. The book is available through online sources such as Amazon.com, as well as through most Christian bookstores.
